Rumor: Ronnefalk might leave Kyosho in 2015!

David Ronnefalk may be considering not to renew with Kyosho ahead of 2015 season!

If true, it would be a big blow to the Kyosho Team, losing the current 2014 European 1/8 Buggy Champion. As usual with rumors, we'll need to wait and watch out for more information, while we keep our fingers crossed for this one not to be true ;)

The Kyosho driver claimed the honour with a third convincing TQ run in the penultimate round of qualifying at the Sand am Main event in Germany this morning.  Again the only driver to run a 27-second lap time, the Swede took the round 3.1-seconds up on Mugen’s Robert Batlle with Koysho team-mate Elliott Boots backing up his Q3 performance with another Top 3 time.

2013 1/8 RC Buggy European Championship Final

Ronnefalk & Kyosho win Euros 2013!

In a final that will surely go down as one of the most enjoyable, spectacular and eventful in memory, the pacesetter all week David Ronnefalk took an expectant win, however it proved to be far from a formality as the 17 year-old Swede had to fight his way back after a series of mistakes. Initially Ronnefalk opened up a lead with Savoya 2nd and Bloomfield looking dangerous with his 10min fuel strategy in 3rd, however the reigning European Champion was forced to retire at the 18 min mark, meaning a new European Champion would be crowned. Back upfront Robert Batlle and Reno Savoya assumed a cat and mouse battle with the 3x European Champion leading for much of it until he began to be reeled in slowly by the chasing Ronnefalk, eventually the latter half turned into the Ronnefalk/Savoya show with David getting past every now and then only to open a 2 second gap before a mistake dropped him behind.

Ronnefalk Q2 2nd Fastest and Q3 TQ @ Euros 2013

The 3rd and final round of quali on Thursday saw the fast guys up pretty quickly again after they’re Q2 effort, it was enough time for Kyosho Driver, David Ronnefalk, to hit ‘reset’ on his internal transmitter after his minor Q2 mistake (which saw him slip all the way from 1st to 2nd) – and he TQ’d Q3 under the blazing French sun in style by 4 seconds, Jerome Aigoin had initially set the benchmark pace, but it seems not many drivers can match Ronnefalk for raw speed.

As things stand, Ronnefalk is looking a good bet for TQ with two in the bag and a 2nd place, the day belongs to the 17 year-old Swede, mentored by legend Adrien Bertin and mechanic’d by father Pierre.

The Kyosho MP9 buggy stamped his authority on the first three rounds of qualifying at the 2013 Euros as it TQ’d Q1 &Q3 and took a close 2nd place in Q2, driven by the Swedish youngster, who is no stranger to the Euros limelight having featured heavily at the sharp end in the final last year; pipped during the last minutes however, he spoke of his desire to perform and atone and so he leaves many runners scratching their hands as to where he is finding the speed. From round to round the track changed significantly, not least due to ambient changes in temperature, arguably starting out the fastest in the cool morning, look out for an interview with Ronnefalk soon.

Ronnefalk TQ’s opening qualifier @ Euros 2013

Setting the pace once again in the opening qualifier on a slightly cooler Thursday morning at the 2013 Euros was young David Ronnefalk, setting a fastest lap of 39.15 along the way, a few small bobbles and tension moments seemed not to dent the Swede’s speed as he bucked the qualifying trend with a clear 3 second gap to 2nd placed World Champion Robert Batlle. Jerome Aigoin was first out in the morning but saw his time just pipped by Martin Bayer, a time which slotted the Czech driver into a strong 3rd place.

Jerome Aigoin/MP9 is the Top Seed for Qualifying @ Euros 2013

Kyosho’s Jerome Aigoin is the top seed for qualifying at the 1:8 Offroad European Championships after the quiet Frenchman topped the second round of timed practice in France from Kyosho/Novarossi team-mate Elliott Boots. Having posted the fastest time of the day in the morning’s opening timed practice, Kyosho’s David Ronnefalk lost around 7-seconds after a coming together with a slower buggy and ending up only 10th fastest.
